About Us


James City County Parks & Recreation offers nationally recognized programs, parks and facilities! We offer more than 3,300 successful programs each year that provide opportunities for exercise and recreation, social interaction, learning, growth and relaxation; get outside and take in our variety of recreational sites including 17 parks and 1,592 acres of park land boasting historic, scenic and recreational sites; stay fit and achieve your health and wellness goals through 2 recreation centers offering year-round programming and staff support to keep you moving forward; and help us cultivate community through our volunteer, civic engagement, advertising and sponsorship programs. We work in partnership with citizens to ensure responsive programs, facilities and open space which promote personal growth, social development and healthy lifestyles.

Our Vision

James City County Parks & Recreation strives to be recognized and viewed by the citizens of the County as providing high quality parks, trails, recreation facilities and programs that are safe, clean, accessible and affordable to people of all ages. Through this effort the Department will create a sense of community and place that connects citizens to a variety of recreation experiences while supporting economic development, health and wellness in a financially sustainable system.
