Sheriff Robert J. Deeds Biography

Robert J. Deeds has served as the Sheriff of the City of Williamsburg and James City County since January 1, 2000.

Prior to serving his community as Sheriff, Robert J. “Bob” Deeds, served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.  Sheriff Deeds earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science at Christopher Newport College in 1981, and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1990.  The Sheriff retired in 1996 from the Virginia State Police after 30 years of service.  Sheriff Deeds is a member of the Board of Directors for the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, also serving as Chairman in 2003 and 2009.

Of the many commitments held by Sheriff Deeds, his longest remains 42 years of marriage to his loving wife, Constance Rohanna Deeds. Together they have three grown children: Robert, Laura and Gregory.
