Chickahominy Riverfront Park

Living Shoreline Stabilization - December 2021

Scope of Work

This project involves the design and construction of shoreline stabilization through the establishment of living shorelines along the Chickahominy River and Gordon Creek. The project involves a living shoreline with breakwater and beach nourishment on the west side of the park along the Chickahominy River, and marsh creation and stabilization using coir logs and rock marsh sills on the north side along Gordon Creek. The project will also incorporate approximately 0.75 acres of riparian buffer enhancement and creation. Locations where bald cypress trees are present along the toe of existing banks will be preserved and expanded with marsh creation wherever feasible.
