County Administrators, City Managers and Emergency Managers from the Peninsula are working with the Virginia Department of Health to ensure vaccinations are available to our residents as soon as possible.
This is a monumental task for our community. As can be expected, there are logistical and legal hurdles that must be overcome in order to provide the vaccine to all who wish to receive it.
James City County staff are working with Sentara Healthcare, Riverside, the Peninsula Health District and other localities to stand up vaccination clinics to increase the number of vaccines administered. As more vaccine is available, it is expected that pharmacy chains and local doctors’ offices will be able to join the effort.
To date, more than 8,000 vaccines have been given in our health district. Over the coming weeks, we are confident the availability and distribution of the vaccine will continue to improve.
