Register to Vote or Update Information
Already registered? Please report a change of name or address.
To remain a qualified voter, the law requires that you notify the Office of Elections in writing, of any change to your name or address. Deadlines are the same as registering to vote.

Voters with a Virginia DMV Driver's License or ID may register to vote online.
Last day to register online for the November General Election is Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.

Visit any voter registration office and fill out a voter registration form by close of business on the last day of registration which is Monday, October 16, 2023. Forms are available at the JCC Office of Elections.

Complete a Voter Registration Application form on your computer, print it, then mail it to the address below. Or print a blank application form, complete it legibly, then mail it to the address below. All applications must be signed and dated. Review your application carefully before submitting to this office.

Deadline to receive a voter registration application in the mail at our office is Monday, October 16, 2023 by 5 p.m. for the November 2023 General Election.
You can register to vote in Virginia if you meet the following requirements. You are a resident of Virginia
- You are a citizen of the United States
- You are at least 18 years of age by the next November general election
- You are not registered/planning to vote in another state
- You are not currently declared mentally incompetent by a court of law
- If convicted of a felony, your right to vote must have been restored
If you meet these requirements, you may register to vote.

The voter registration deadline is 21 days before Election Day
- In-person voter registration forms must be completed by 5 pm on the deadline
- Mailed voter registration forms must be postmarked no later than the deadline
- Online voter registration forms must be completed no later than 11:59 pm on the deadline

To Report the Death of a Registered Voter

- Military, Overseas and Federal Voters - Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA)
The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act is commonly referred to as UOCAVA. UOCAVA citizens are U.S. citizens who are active members of the Uniformed Services, the Merchant Marine, the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, their eligible family members and other U.S. citizens residing outside the United States.
Please complete a Federal Post Card Application if you are living outside of James City County, but are still a registered voter in James City County. The FPCA (Federal Standard Form 76) allows UOCAVA citizens to register to vote and request an absentee ballot.
