Parks & Recreation

Parks & Recreation wants to help you keep your mind and body active while our facilities are closed due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Check out our new Virtual Programming page where you’ll find fun activities for all ages to do at home, in your yard, or in our parks. A reminder, James City County facilities are closed to the public until further notice, including the James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center. Passes to both Centers are frozen, and the lost time will be added to your membership when the Centers reopen. For more information about the closure, call the Center at 757-259-4200, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.

All County parks are open; however, please check amenity openings and closings before heading out.

The Department also began the update of its Shaping Our Shores Master Plan last November, a plan which will guide the development of three of the County’s waterfront facilities— Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Jamestown Beach Event Park and the James City County Marina. Thank you to all who participated in the community engagement portion of the process, and please continue to visit us online for the latest information and for details of the County’s next steps.
