CRP Fishing Pier Reopens News Flash_Nov17_23 copy

The Chickahominy Riverfront Park fishing pier replacement project has been completed. The project included demolition and removal of the previous deteriorating pier and construction of a new pier, substantially larger, in the same space. The pier experienced frequent flooding during high tide events, was not accessible to all, and required significant annual maintenance To ensure access, the new pier is designed to accommodate those with disabilities. New pier features include energy efficient solar lighting, a fish cleaning table with water at the head of the pier, and the addition of an asphalt ADA parking area with an accessible path to the pier. The pier is also lit for night fishing, is free and always open. Chickahominy Riverfront Park, 1350 John Tyler Hwy., also offers a campground, glamping tents, a swimming pool, picnic areas and a boat launch.
